Ship & Sleep / Problems we solve

The five ways AI-built apps die.

None of them are exotic. All of them are preventable with the same boring machinery — which is exactly what we run.

  1. 01Silent downtime
  2. 02Backups that don't restore
  3. 03Exposed secrets
  4. 04Dependency rot
  5. 05The founder as monitoring system

Silent downtime

The app goes down at night and nobody notices until a customer complains — or stops complaining and leaves. Most AI-built apps ship with zero uptime monitoring.

The fix: uptime checks every minute, error alerting a person actually reads, and a committed first-response time with consequences for us when we miss it.

Backups that don't restore

The most expensive sentence in software: "we have backups" — discovered to be false on the day you need them. A backup that was never restored is a rumor.

The fix: daily backups plus scheduled restore drills — real recoveries, timed and documented in your monthly report. Not a checkbox. A rehearsal.

Exposed secrets

API keys in client code, database credentials in a public repo, admin routes without auth. AI generators produce these constantly, and the app works fine — until someone else finds them first.

The fix: the Health Check hunts exactly this class of finding, and operations keeps secrets in a vault with least-privilege access, logged in your report.

Dependency rot

Every AI-built app freezes its dependencies on day one and starts aging immediately. Six months later, a critical vulnerability meets an app nobody knows how to update safely.

The fix: scheduled patch passes, each verified against your money-and-data paths afterwards — and anything risky proposed in writing first, per our fail-closed default.

The founder as monitoring system

The subtlest failure: the app runs, but only because you check it compulsively — evenings, weekends, holidays. That's not operations, that's anxiety with a dashboard, and it caps everything else you could be building.

The fix: a named engagement lead who carries the pager, a runbook that makes the knowledge transferable, and a monthly report that lets you stop checking. Quiet months are the product.

Which one is yours?

The Health Check finds out which of the five apply to your app — $249 flat, guarantee-backed.
